Frequently asked questions
What a board asks before it starts, in five groups: the product, setting up, pricing, privacy and Loi 16. Type a word to keep only the questions that carry it.
Ask Savoir about Savoir
What the product does for a community: a question, an answer, and the documents it stood on. Here, those documents are Savoir's own.
The product
What is Savoir?
An assistant that answers members from the documents the board gave it: the declaration, the by-laws, the minutes, the financial statements. Every answer names the passage it came from.
Who is Savoir for?
Syndicates of co-owners, homeowner associations, housing co-operatives, managers who look after several buildings, and organizations with members. Each of those has a page of its own under Solutions.
How do I know where an answer came from?
Every answer names the document, the section and the page it came from, and the passage opens beside it. With no source, the assistant does not answer. It says it cannot find one.
What happens when a document is replaced?
The board uploads the new version and the assistant answers from it. The old one stops being read and is no longer cited. A deleted document is forgotten the same way.
Can the board correct an answer?
Yes. Flagged questions and unanswered ones arrive in its review queue. The answer the board writes becomes the one the assistant gives afterwards, shown as the board's own.
Setting up
Which documents can we upload?
PDF, both Word formats, plain text, and scans as PNG, JPEG or TIFF, up to 100 MB a file.
What does the assistant do when it does not know?
It says so. It shows the contact the board has set and sends them the question, which waits in the review queue.
Do members need an account?
Yes. They are invited by e-mail or by link, and the board can require that it approve each arrival.
Does it work in French?
The site and the app are in French and in English from the first screen. Each person reads in the language they chose.
What does branding the assistant mean?
Giving it the name it answers under, the syndicate’s logo and the interface’s colour. Nothing else has to be set before going live.
Can we remove a member or close the community?
Yes, from the console. A removed member loses access and their sessions end. A deleted community closes at once, and is erased for good after thirty days.
Who sees the questions members ask?
The board. Its review queue shows flagged and unanswered questions, with the name of whoever asked. The analytics count volumes and topics, with no names.
Pricing
Who counts as a member?
Anyone active or invited in the community. An invitation that has been sent already holds a place; somebody the board has deactivated holds none.
What happens when a plan is full?
New invitations are refused until a place frees up or the plan changes. Questions are never counted. A full community goes on answering the members it has.
Does the trial ask for a credit card?
No. It runs 14 days with no card, and the assistant answers during it exactly as it will afterwards.
Can we change plan?
Yes, write to us. The plan is chosen when the community is created and nobody changes it from the console. When a community fills up, the console names the plan that would hold it. Nothing it has already put in moves.
What does Enterprise mean?
No ceiling on members or on administrators, and a price settled by talking rather than posted. It is the plan for a manager who arrives with several buildings.
What currency are the prices in?
US dollars, for every plan shown here.
Privacy and security
Which cookies does this site set?
Two. Your answer to the cookie question, kept for a year. And the language you read in, only if you accept it. No advertising cookie, here or in the app.
Do you track visitors to this site?
No. Visits are counted page by page, with no cookie, no IP address and no identifier. Nobody is followed from one page to the next, and no third-party tracker is loaded.
Where does a community's data live?
In production, a community's documents and the questions asked of them stay in a Canadian region.
Are the documents encrypted?
Everything travels over HTTPS. Uploaded files are kept in a private store that opens only through a signed, temporary link, never through a public address.
Can another community read our documents?
No. Every row and every file carries its community's id, and the database refuses any read that would cross that boundary.
Can we have a data-processing agreement?
Yes. Write to us and choose the privacy subject, and a person replies with the agreement and the subprocessor list.
Loi 16 and the Civil Code
What is Loi 16?
The 2019 Québec act that tightened what a syndicate of co-owners owes its members in the Civil Code: article 1070 now names, among the documents kept at the co-owners' disposal, the building's maintenance logbook and the contingency fund study.
What is the co-ownership register?
What article 1070 asks the syndicate to keep at the co-owners' disposal: minutes, financial statements, the declaration, the plans, the maintenance logbook and the fund study. Savoir answers from the ones the board has uploaded, and cites the article when the question is about the obligation itself.
Can the maintenance logbook go into Savoir?
Yes, like any other document. A question about the roof or the elevator then finds the section of the logbook that covers it, with its page, rather than an answer from memory.
What is the contingency fund study?
Article 1071 makes the fund compulsory and asks that the amounts paid into it be set in the light of the study's recommendations. When a co-owner asks why the fees are going up, Savoir answers from the study that was uploaded and cites the article beside it.
Does Savoir give legal advice?
No. The Civil Code's articles form a group of their own under the answer, beneath the legal-information notice, and each one links to the official text. That is legal information, never an opinion.
When were these articles last checked?
The articles Savoir cites are read by hand against the official text. The last check was on 2026-09-06, and that date is shown to the member who opens the article.
